After a long and drawn out winter, summer is finally with us and it brings with it our first full summer school season here at The Courtyard Art Studio.
July is a very busy month here at the studio, with at least 2 courses every week. There is still time to book onto George Boyter's, Creating Mood and Atmosphere in Watercolours, course on the 16th and 17th July for those of you who want to advance your watercolour technique. If painting outside is for you (and let's be honest, summer is the time to take full advantage of that) then have a look at George's other course, Glorious Gardens, happening in late August.
Also in August, acclaimed acrylic artist Brenda Hurley, will be leading a two day course on Mixed Media Landscapes. Come and venture into the exciting world of discovering pattern and depth in a landscape, using collage, crayons, inks and acrylic paint - a truly sensory, creative experience.
And for the 3D artists amongst you, we have two willow courses - Country Willow Frame Baskets and Contemporary Willow Figures led by artist Hazel Godfrey. When working and learning with Hazel, her aim is to draw your attention to the simple pleasure to be gained by looking at the beauty and complexity of natural things.
Last but by no means least, for those wannabe Sewing Bee contestants amongst you, we have just added some new textiles courses with experienced tutor, Sylvia Downton. Sylvia has been sewing for as long as she can remember and her enthusiasm for all things fabric and thread is so infectious, we just knew she was the right person to lead our two new courses, Demystifying Dressmaking and Getting to know your Sewing Machine. For those of you who can already sew and fancy a project, why not come along to her two day Easy Sew Kimono workshop instead?
