After a long and drawn out winter, summer is finally with us and it brings with it our first full summer school season here at The Courtyard Art Studio.
To kick start the season, Bucks Art Weeks (9th - 24th June) will see tutor Laura Boswell setting up a pop-up printmaking studio here with us. You can also see some of our other tutors - George Boyter, Bex Gouverneur and Peter Keegan exhibiting elsewhere in the courtyard. Come along and visit, Saturday - Wednesday, 11am - 5pm (for free).
We're really excited to announce that in August we will be running two sewing courses with experienced sewing tutor, Sylvia Downton. Sylvia has been sewing for as long as she can remember and her enthusiasm for all things fabric and thread is so infectious, we just knew she was the right person to lead our two new courses, Demystifying Dressmaking and Getting to know your Sewing Machine.
If painting outside is for you (and let's be honest, summer is the time to take full advantage of that) then have a look at George Boyter's Glorious Gardens painting course, happening in August. Come and immerse yourself for two days in the beautiful grounds and gardens of Claydon Estate and under George's expert and gentle guidance, capture your surroundings in watercolour. For those watercolour artists looking to further their knowledge and expertise, have a look at George's other course, Creating Mood and Atmosphere in Watercolours, in July.
And for the 3D artists amongst you, we have two willow courses - Country Willow Frame Baskets and Contemporary Willow Figures led by artist Hazel Godfrey. When working and learning with Hazel, her aim is to draw your attention to the simple pleasure to be gained by looking at the beauty and complexity of natural things. You can also see Hazel at Childwickbury Arts Fair from Friday 6th - Sunday 8th July.
