Junior Artists Holiday Workshops

10am - 2pm

£20 per child per day

We had so much creative fun last summer with all of you who came along to our debut Junior Artist Workshops.

We are very excited to announce we will be running 3 dates during the upcoming Easter holidays. See below for more details.

Monday 8 April: Batik - one space left

This was our fastest selling workshop last summer! Whether you are completely new to Batik or whether you have tried it before, come and learn this ancient technique of using wax and dye on fabric to create beautiful pictures, patterns and pieces of art.

Tuesday 9 April: Explore & Draw - fully booked

Take a line for a walk; learn the difference between tone and shade; draw with charcoal, pencil, pastel and paint; work at an easel like a real artist! If you love drawing and want to have fun whilst learning some new techniques and tricks used by real artists, come along to this workshop.

Wednesday 10 April: Wondrous & Wild Weaving - last spaces remaining

Get to know your warp from your weft and weave some beautiful pieces of art which could later be made into cushions, bags or wall hangings at home. You will also learn how to make tassels and pom poms to add to your work and we will have a go at weaving with natural materials such as leaves, sticks and other found objects.

What to expect:

Come and learn new skills and make art in a professional studio.

During each day will we focus on a different theme, with fundamental art skills being taught throughout.  Our holiday club aims to give children aged 7 - 11 years, the chance to have fun, learn and create in a professional art studio.

Workshops can be booked individually, in groups or the whole collection. There will be no more than 16 participants per workshop. All materials provided.

With over twenty years experience in education (primary and secondary) between them, the directors of The Courtyard Art Studio Peter and Kimberley Keegan are passionate about teaching art, inspiring children and promoting the health and emotional benefits of producing art.  Kimberley, who will lead the sessions, is a qualified primary school teacher with a degree in Fine Art.  Kimberley is also paediatric first aid trained and has up to date safeguarding training. Both Peter and Kimberley have advanced DBS clearance to work with children. All of the workshops will also include another studio assistant.
