Terms and Conditions
ADULT COURSES - TIMINGS: 10am – 4pm each day. There will be a 15 minute break in the morning and afternoon, as well as 45 minutes for lunch.
LOCATION: The Courtyard Art Studio is situated in the Courtyard at Claydon Estate. The address is Claydon Estate, Middle Claydon, near Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, MK18 2EX. The National Trust's Claydon House is not involved in the running of the courses and neither is Claydon Estate – all contact with regard to courses should be made through this website to The Courtyard Art Studio.
PARKING: There is ample free parking on site, on the grass in front of the main house (parking is at your own risk). It is then a very short walk from the car park to the studio in the Courtyard.
TUITION FEES (Adult Courses): All courses are priced at either £80 or £90 per day, including VAT. Course prices are stated in the individual course details. This fee includes most materials although some courses charge an additional materials fee. If this is the case, it will be listed on the course details page. Your course fee includes a range of teas, coffee and refreshments at break times. Please note lunch is not included.
PAYMENT: The full course amount must be paid at the time of booking. There will be no refunds for absent days. Payment can be made by credit/debit card through this site. Please note that no course place can be reserved until your online booking form and payment are received.
We have recently updated this part of our terms and conditions: please note that for all bookings made on or after the 7th March 2019, the following time frame for refunds will apply;
At least 10 weeks prior – full refund minus 3% administration charge
Within 10 weeks – a full refund (minus the 3% administration charge) or transfer to another course (free of charge), will only be given if your place can be filled by somebody else. If your place cannot be filled, no refund or transfer will be given.
The Courtyard Art Studio LTD reserves the right to cancel or change course dates if the necessity arises. If a course is cancelled, you may transfer to another course in the same year if a place is available or a full refund will be given.
You should consider taking out your own cancellation insurance, particularly if you are booking your own accommodation.
FULL COURSES: If the course you'd like to attend is fully booked, please contact us and your name will be placed on a reserve list. If a space becomes available you will be contacted.
FOOD: Your tuition fee includes tea/coffee, refreshments and biscuits at break times. Lunch is not provided. Students are welcome to bring their own packed lunch - there is a fridge and microwave in the studio kitchen if foods need to be stored and heated. Alternatively there is the Phoenix Tea Rooms on site which serves a range of hot and cold lunches, tea, coffee and cakes daily - please note the cafe is closed on Thursdays and Fridays.
COURSE REQUIREMENT LISTS: a Course Requirements List is available on the page when you book the course. A reminder email will be sent to enrolled students near to the course start, giving details of any additional items you will need to bring with you.
AGE: All courses are for participants over 18*. Under 18’s may be allowed to attend at our discretion, if they are accompanied by another paying adult who takes responsibility for them. Please contact us to discuss this before booking a place.
*JUNIOR ARTISTS HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS: Children's holiday workshops run from 10am - 2pm. These courses are suitable for children aged 7 - 11 years old. There will be a break in the morning for snack and a longer one for lunch. All children will need to bring a packed lunch with them - they will not be able to visit the cafe during the workshop. Weather permitting, there will be a chance to have a break outside. Each day costs £20 per child including VAT.
ACCESSIBILITY: The studio is fully accessible and level for students who may have low mobility or who are in wheelchairs. Students may be dropped off outside the studio entrance if needed. There is no bathroom in the studio. The bathroom can be found 20 yards across the courtyard where there are accessible disabled facilities. The courtyard tea rooms are also fully accessible.
STAYING IN THE AREA: The courses are non-residential. However, there is a wide choice of accommodation in Buckingham and the local area, varying from small guest houses to luxury hotels. You will find information on accommodation here.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE STUDENTS: Are very welcome but must have a good knowledge of English to enable them to participate fully in the course.
DATA AND MARKETING: By enrolling on a course, you agree to sign up to our email mailing list, through which we can keep you up to date on all the latest news and courses. If you would prefer not to be contacted, please let us know.
RECEIPTS: Please contact us if you require a VAT receipt.
PLEASE NOTE your possessions are brought on site at your own risk and all vehicles are parked at your own risk. No smoking is allowed and no dogs or other animals are permitted on site. No children or non-participating adults will be permitted to attend the courses.
To the best of our knowledge, all information given on this website is correct. However, The Courtyard Art Studio LTD reserve the right to correct or amend any aspect of the Claydon courses in the event of circumstances where such changes are deemed to be necessary or appropriate.
